Girls Out Loud is committed to supporting and inspiring young teenage girls in the North West to believe in themselves, think big, find their voice and their gumption, be empowered to make aspirational life choices and to step up and out of their comfort zones to shine and be a role model to other girls.
We do this by creating and developing early intervention programmes from 2 hours to 12 months for young teenage girls age 12-14. All of our programmes harness the expertise of professional, qualified NLP coaches and CBT specialists alongside strong and sassy female role models from all walks of life with stories to share and lessons to impart. We subscribe to the philosophy if you cannot see it, you do not always belief you can become it.
2020 marked our 10th year and we are proud of our work and our impact. We have partnered with over 45 schools in the region and impacted the lives of over 8k girls. Our approach is unique, professional and inclusive and our evaluation confirms our work matters.
100% of girls completing our 12 month Big Sister mentoring programme see an improvement in their confidence and 100% think the programme should be part of the curriculum for every girl.
Our Stardom programme. An intensive coaching intervention for vulnerable, hard to reach, at risk girls is changing lives. Here is a quote form a recent 15 year old girl Ellie, who was on the point of permanent exclusion when she was nominated for the programme.
‘ I wanted to say a massive thank you. When I started the Stardom programme I have to admit I thought it was a good way of missing lessons, so this was the massive push for me to do it, but as the weeks went on I learnt so much about myself and others and also learnt different ways to think and behave and I realised my past approach and outlook was appalling and my behaviour was off the scale. I am now on my way to college then University and I know I am going to do it and be the best I can be. Without Girls Out Loud and my Stardom coach’s support – all the conversations and meetings, I would not have the confidence or belief or power to try as hard as I do today. You made me a different person. You were there for me when I thought I had nobody, you cared, you listened and you gave me a new set of tools, I particularly love visualisation and still do this every day. Your impact on my life is amazing. I am stronger and more independent and I thank you with all my heart for your gift.’
2020 was an unprecedented time for all our school children. Being without the structure and routine of a school week, missing their friends and teachers and being denied an education will have long term effects for many. School is also a safe space to grow and develop both from an academic perspective and an emotional one, so stealing this time from them as young teenagers will show up in their mind set, resilience and mental health savvy for years to come.
At Girls Out Loud we know for sure our teenage girls will need our support to unpack their new normal and deal with the fallout of so many mental health challenges they suffered with during this pandemic including loneliness, bereavement, domestic abuse, anxiety and depression, frustration, low self-esteem, separation and anger to name a few and we want to be there, ready and waiting with mentors, coaches, therapists and inspirational role models to help them get back to themselves and see the learnings in this time.
Our initial fund raising goal is £20k and this will allow us to offer extra support to the most vulnerable girls and back to school workshops for all of our current Little Sisters, approx 100 girls.
Donating £5, £10 or £20 to our campaign will help us to do this.
