Saving the Scottish Wildcat- the rarest cat in the world
Wildcat Haven CIC
The Scottish Wildcat is one of the rarest animals in the world; there are only 35 of them left on earth. A third of them live in the publicly owned Clashindarroch Forest in the Scottish Highlands, but they are in danger from logging by the Scottish Government’s Forestry Commission Scotland. If this doesn’t stop immediately, the wildcat will become extinct.
We can stop this, but we need your help to raise the funds to carry out the following actvities:
- Enforce national and international protections of the wildcat.
- Establish special designation for the site so the forest can be conserved indefinitely.
- Stop wildcats being taken from the wild by the government to be put in zoos.

Thirty years ago I read a book by a man who lived in a remote part of Scotland. He was devoting himself to helping the Wildcats in the forest around him , documenting their numbers and even helping to care for some injured animals.
