Thank you Benedict for all your help in locating some of my Johnson family ancestry records. I am donating in remembrance of John and Ellen Dumigan Johnson (my great great grandparents) who are buried at St. Mary's and John and Elizabeth Best Johnson my great grandparents who were married at St. Mary's and their children who were baptized there.

My sister Marie and I were born and brought up on "The Moor". We have been attending mass together, virtually, every Sunday during lockdown. Marie lives in Surrey and I live in Spain. Father Paul,we would be so happy if you could offer a Sunday mass for our parents, Teresa and Jack Farrell. Warmest wishes and thank you.

About St Mary's and St Joseph's Catholic Parish

st marys and st josephs parish serves the catholic community of cleator, cleator moor and frizington. the parish grew up in the 19c to serve the growing communities of this part of west cumbria as people moved here to work in mining and associated industries. many of these were from ireland - this heritage gives our parish its particular character. the parish works with the community at all levels from baptism through our schools, at key points in peoples' lives. we have two beautiful graveyards; including at cleator our historic grotto - which is a focus of pilgrimage, by individuals and, each year, for the diocese of lancaster as pilgrims, young and old gather for an outdoor mass and blessing of the sick. working with our ecumenical partners we seek to serve all those in our local area.
