Sue Mackie, our lead teacher at Bristol Dyslexia Centre, is taking on an extraordinary challenge: an epic 300‑kilometre run across England. Following Wainwright’s famous Coast‑to‑Coast route, Sue will run from St Bees on the west coast of Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay on the east coast of North Yorkshire.
This incredible journey unfolds over five consecutive days and nights, starting at 8:30am on Saturday 28th March and finishing by midnight on Wednesday 1st April. It is truly a remarkable test of endurance, resilience and determination.
Sue is dedicating this challenge to raise funds for The Dyslexia Trust, which helps ensure that dyslexic children can access the specialist support they need but may not otherwise afford.
“Our students face epic challenges daily. By attempting this personal challenge, I hope we can help children who would otherwise struggle to access the additional support they need.” — Sue

Bristol Dyslexia Centre offers specialist assessment and learning support to those with dyslexia. While the centre is fee‑paying, many families urgently need this help but cannot meet the cost. Founded in 1994, The Dyslexia Trust (Registered Charity No. 1039105) provides bursaries so that those facing financial hardship can still access the support they need to thrive.
Many learners who come to the centre experience not only dyslexia but may also have: Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Attention Deficit disorders, Speech and Language difficulties.
Children often arrive with low confidence and self‑esteem, and support within school and from local authorities is limited unless they have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP)-which can be very difficult to obtain.
We aim to help people with dyslexia reach their full potential—academically, professionally and socially—by providing access to specialist assessment, learning programmes, and support services.
Your donation directly helps transform a child’s confidence, educational journey, and their future.
