London Feeding Programme

Every week AMURT UK feeds around 300 people in Holborn, central London. Most are homeless or have fallen through various social safety nets. The harsh reality of life on the streets or being jobless in one of the most expensive cities in the world means a warm, nutritious meal can make a world of difference.
Tackling two issues in one each week meals are cooked using fresh produce donated by stallholders at New Spitalfields market that would otherwise be wasted.
Dedicated AMURT UK volunteers collect the produce early in the morning then spend the afternoon chopping, stirring and seasoning. Come rain or shine the food is then taken to the site and is served by our smiling volunteers. The feeding is often accompanied by music and conversation with the recipients.
