DBA in the Community

There are over 4,400 people registered blind or partially sighted and an estimated 42,000 people living with serious sight loss in Dorset.

Dorset Blind Association works to help these people adjust to living with serious sight loss, cope with the emotional impact of that, to still feel their life has purpose and to enable them to lead full, healthy and socially active lives in their local community, lived as independently as they chose.

Our support is tailored to each individual’s needs and we regularly help several hundred people each month.

Our help is not time limited, we provide continuous support for as long as people need it because most sight loss is not curable and also people’s needs change over time as their sight continues to decline and other factors in their health and life circumstances change.
