Founded by brother and sister team, John Brownhill and Amanda Guest, Food4Heroes was born at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to help NHS front line staff around the country. These NHS heroes were struggling to eat well due to their long shifts and the impact of panic buying on the availability of even basic ingredients. John and Amanda set up the not-for-profit organisation to bring together restaurants, pubs and caterers to deliver free, freshly cooked and nutritious meals direct to NHS hospital staff. By the end of the first lockdown, Food4Heroes had raised £407,000 enabling us to deliver 230,000 meals to 43 hospitals across England.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Food4Heroes has worked with our network to make our nutritious meals available through local foodbanks. Enabling us to join the fight against food poverty. The pandemic has led to a dramatic increase in numbers seeking help from foodbanks. Food4Heroes is working with partner foodbanks to supplement the dried, non-perishable items in food parcels with a nutritious, complete meal that can just be heated up. It costs only £2 to produce a top quality, freshly cooked and nutritious meal. Already there is more demand than funds available to fulfil it. Please give now and help us support as many foodbank users as possible.
