Appeal

Dumplings Dire Need to Breath Again

We have recently taken in a five-year-old British Bulldog needing £2,500 of life-changing surgery.

The bulldog, lovingly named Dumpling, needs BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery to help improve her restricted breathing. She also needs surgery to remove her corkscrew tail, which is causing her problems and is another consequence of the health issues often suffered by flat-faced breeds.

Like so many Bulldogs, she has unfortunately been dealt a difficult hand when it comes to her health. She is also carrying too much weight and needs to lose around 4kg. Her extra weight puts additional pressure on her already compromised breathing, so Gables is working hard to help her safely reach a healthier weight. She also suffers from itchy skin and currently needs medication, including Apoquel, to help manage her discomfort.

Despite everything she is facing, she is a lovely dog with so much life still ahead of her. With the right veterinary treatment, surgery, weight loss and ongoing care, her future could look very different. We are appealing to our amazing supporters to help raise the £2,500 needed for her surgery. Every donation will help us get her one step closer to receiving the treatment she desperately needs.

Gables does not receive any government funding so totally rely on donations given by the public. Those unable to donate can still make a huge difference by sharing the appeal with friends, family, and on social media.

If Gables is lucky enough to raise more money than is needed for this appeal, the excess will go into general funds to help all the animals in our care.
