About Hampshire Search and Rescue
Hampshire Search and Rescue (HANTSAR), a registered charity, is a Lowland Rescue team providing professionally trained volunteers to assist the police with searches for vulnerable missing people (such as children, the elderly or despondent). Set up in 2003, HANTSAR is staffed entirely by volunteers, both operational members who carry out the searches and support members who provide back-up with administration and fundraising activities. It has no paid staff. The charity receives no Government or other funding and is dependant on its own fundraising efforts. The charity relies heavily on the generosity of the general public to fund the running costs of its operational role. This cost currently stands at £24,000 per year.
