London Sinfonietta

The creation of new music has been at the core of the London Sinfonietta’s work since its foundation in 1968. We have commissioned or premiered over 350 works from famous names such as Luciano Berio and Steve Reich to emerging composers at the start of their careers.

A Resident Orchestra of London’s Southbank Centre and Artistic Associate at Kings Place, we are known for the virtuosity and ambition of our performances and take the best contemporary music to venues and festivals throughout the UK and internationally.

London Sinfonietta is a registered charity (no. 255095) and relies on the generosity of many individuals and funding bodies to produce this outstanding work. In addition to the support we receive from Arts Council England, we must raise £500,000 each year, a third of our annual turnover, to survive.
