The Trust was founded on the belief that we all need beauty and nature in our lives, places that lift our spirits. We exist to look after the places that offer us these things so that people can enjoy them, now and in the future. Amongst the special places we care for are historic houses, gardens, mills, coastline, forests, farmland, moorland, islands, villages, castles, lighthouses, nature reserves, pre-historic sites, factories, barns... and pubs. The National Trust is committed to protecting them for ever, for everyone.
