Appeal
I’m really pleased to share something new that’s grown directly out of the kindness and compassion within our own SPSAS community.
The SPSAS Community Kindness Fund has been created to offer small, one-off kindness gestures to members of our community when life feels heavy. It’s here to support little lifts that can make a difference to someone’s day or week, things like a small treat, a voucher, or a practical bit of help.
There’s no judgement, no explanation needed, and no expectation attached. This isn’t about big financial support or ongoing assistance. It’s about simple, human acts of care, offered quietly and respectfully.
The idea for this fund came together after I recently found myself in a tight spot myself. Nothing dramatic, just one of those moments where things pile up and priorities clash, and you realise how quickly anyone can wobble. I was really struck by the kindness I experienced during that time, and it reminded me just how powerful small acts of support can be when someone is stretched.
That experience made me want to pay that kindness forward in a way that felt sustainable, values-led, and aligned with what SPSAS stands for. As part of that, I’ve personally pledged double what I was helped with to seed the Community Kindness Fund, and this will be spread gently over time so we can support people when we’re able to, as funds allow.
Because of that, support may not always be immediate. If you apply, you might hear from us at a completely random moment down the line. That’s intentional, and it helps us keep this manageable, fair, and focused on one-off kindness rather than ongoing pressure.
If this feels like it might help you right now, you’re very welcome to apply. There’s no need to justify your situation, and you’re free to share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.

Donations are completely optional and always appreciated. Whether you donate, apply, share the post, or simply continue being part of this community, it all matters.
This fund exists because of the compassion within SPSAS, and I’m really excited to see it quietly make a difference, one small moment at a time.
Thank you for being such a supportive, thoughtful space for single parents.
