St Mary's Church Transformation Project

Our vision is for a project that, while honouring the church as the focus for Christian worship, and taking seriously its status as a Grade 1 listed architectural treasure, enables the building to serve as a social hub, a natural meeting place and a spectacular and comfortable venue for a wide variety of events and activities, in order to give the church back to the community. We will be building:

A space for new forms of worship and church activities

A more beautiful and welcoming space to visit with a new kitchen and toilets

A new home for the town’s museum

A new Parish Office as a place of welcome

A superb concert venue and auditorium

A venue for events, groups and exhibitions

A kitchen and toilets
