What are we currently raising funds for? 

We are sure you can imagine how high the costs are for the daily running and general maintenance of a 600-year-old Castle. Every penny from event and visitor income goes directly into the service required to open our doors to the public, so if you have visited the Castle or stayed with us - THANK YOU! 

Extra funding is required to preserve this important building and its unique history and heritage for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations. To adapt the Castle for modern use and ensure it is fit for the future, we are currently raising funds to make the Castle accessible to all through the following projects:

* Lift installation to provide step-free access and a changing place toilet for those with complex needs.

* Developing a dedicated volunteer office for training and engagement

* Exploring new innovative and interactive ways to share the castle's collections.
