Malton, Norton and District Lions Club Santa's Sleigh 2025

Every night from 1st December through to 17th December Santa will be making his annual visit to Malton, Norton and the surrounding villages. The sleigh will steadily make its way around the area, accompanied by our members and volunteers from Malton, Norton and District Lions Club.

The Sleigh is the biggest fundraiser in our calendar, which allows us to help local people who need support. The high cost of living has meant that we are receiving more requests from help. We know that many people are struggling to make ends meet, and Christmas is a time when families have many more expenses.

If you CAN help by making a donation, we would be very grateful. Without the support of our local community, we wouldn't be able to help as many people as we do. Whether it is a few pennies in our pot, or a £20 note, we appreciate every donation.

Because we are a volunteer organisation, you can be sure that any money you donate will reach those in need, and so we can respond quickly where needed. Our panel of trustees can make decisions and more importantly get assistance to somebody (actual or financial) within 24 hours of being asked for our help.

Where Can I See Santa?

Our route will also be pinned on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MaltonandNortonLionsClub

and on our website: https://www.maltonnortonlions.co.uk/

Each evening we'll publish a link on our Facebook page, so to make sure you don’t miss his visit, please give our Facebook a ‘Like’ and check back for updates or amendments to our planned schedule.

What Do Lions Do?

We support local charities and good causes. We also respond to requests from professionals who work with local people who need assistance. All requests are considered.

We are active throughout the year, helping at local events, and organising other events to raise money. Our members are from many different backgrounds and ages and have a range of different experiences.

Here are some examples of recent projects:

  • Giving Community Grants of up to £600 to local groups and charities working within our area.
  • Buying a tent for a homeless person.
  • Driving older citizens out to see the daffodils in Farndale, followed by a meal.
  • Subsidising and delivering Fish and Chips to older residents in Malton and Norton. This year we have replaced this with a Lunch Club to help combat loneliness.
  • Helping numerous residents who needed items such as carpets, fridges, washing machines and other essentials.
  • Buying heating oil for a family in difficult circumstances.
  • Helping a local school to supply clothing to children on low income.
  • Bringing Santa to visit Malton Hospital and spread good cheer.
  • Taking a carriage full of Ryedale Special Families members on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
  • Supplying over 20 'Starter packs' including bedding, cooking utensils and crockery to young care leavers, homeless people or those who have fled domestic abuse.
  • Arranging for two families who have had a challenging year to go on a caravan holiday in Filey.
  • Holding a party for the Over 65's in Malton.
